SPEAKERS

 

Jean Laville (PhD, 85), Vice-President, Sustainable Finance Geneva
After collaborating with several research programmes for the Swiss National Fund for Scientific Research, Jean Laville taught international economics and finance at the University of Geneva. From 1988 to 2002 he was asset manager with Banque Pictet & Cie in Geneva. From 2002 to 2012 he was Ethos Foundation's and Ethos Services' Deputy Director. He was in charge of asset management and the environmental and social research department. He has conducted studies on the corporate social responsibility of Swiss companies in the area of climate change, codes of conduct and anti-corruption practices. 


Eric Berseth (MIA, 06), Founder & Executive Director, Philanthropy Advisors
Eric Berseth started out his career in business and finance and then transitioned to the humanitarian sector. Eric Berseth spent over seven years working on emergency operations with Doctors Without Borders (MSF), and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in acute crises such as the Congo (DRC), Uganda, Chad, Sudan (Darfur), Mozambique, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Haiti and Cambodia. His expertise is in project and team management, situational analysis, and intervention strategies. In 2011, he combined his skills developed in the private sector and the humanitarian field to found Philanthropy Advisors.


Pascal Briod (MDev, 12), Co-Founder, TawiPay
TawiPay is a young start-up that aims to bring more transparency in the remittances market by offering a comparison website for money transfer services targeted at migrant populations. Pascal divides his time between his start-up, various commitments in NGOs active in Africa and his position as a civil servant at the Geneva State Energy Office.
